How do companies generate ideas?

Companies generate ideas from what they are aiming to deliver, for example, Spotify’s branding logo is inspired by the waves on the commonly used audio vectors. Deezer and Soundcloud’s branding logo is inspired by music visuals, so to deliver a logo that’s tied into what the company is doing in terms of what platform they’re aiming towards is an important aspect of company branding.

For the names, the customer base has to have a name that they would remember. Spotify is a mixture of two words, “spot” and “identify” which makes sense because the people who use their product is spotting and identifying their music taste. Deezer is a name that’s short and rememberable, it doesn’t have a specific meaning. However, a company doesn’t have to have a meaning since they can build on the name and therefore create a meaning around the name. Another way a company can generate a name is by what there logo showcases such as the “SoundCloud” logo, the music visuals represents sound and then there is a cloud design.

What are brand values?

Brand values are what the company brings to the table in terms of customer quality, quality of the product, respect for their customers and so on. These are important to ensure the success of the company and the reputation that follows it.

Spotify Values:

  • Passionate

  • Sincere

  • Innovative

  • Collaborative

  • Playful

Name Ideas

AudioWave

Like SoundCloud, I’m mixing up works to create a visual representation of what my brand would be.

Jam Out

Cause who doesn’t like to Jam Out? A quirky and fun name.

Streng

Streaming and Song put together, got this idea from Spotify with their Spotting and Identifying name.

Tracks

Tracks is a name used for many things, the sound track for example. It could also be a course laid out just like the storytelling in music.

Illusive

Music is deceptive, envisioned the first three letters to represent an audiowave.

Notes

Notes are all about the basics of music, to play music is to play notes

These are varieties of blue I believe would look great for a music streaming brand logo.

Colour Palette Choices

Music is broad and has various colours for different kind of music. For example, a pop genre may consider using lighter colours whereas a grungy metallic genre would most likely use dark colours. So the colour palette for the brand logo for me should aim towards being neutral to bring in various kinds of people.

Here’s a more pastel colour palette, if dark colours turns out to not work on the logo I’d think about using this.

Follow these guidelines:

For Album and Podcase artwork:

•Artwork must be kept in it’s original form. Don’t animate or distort the artwork in any way nor round the edges, this includes overlays and blurring.

•It’s OK to not include any album work if space is limited.
